We think Darragh might want to readjust his valuation of these players. Stevens bagged for Kettering and Slough, but that doesn’t put him in the £75,000 bracket – £25k seems about right for a player struggling to prove himself in the Football League.

That said, Forest Green have cash after selling Christian Doidge, so perhaps MacAnthony feels they can afford a few more quid, given the profit they’ve made on their own striker.

Pleased to see we're making sensible offers for prospects, their chairman sounds a laugh :D Boo hoo, no blank cheque.

Wow, what an angry response from Peterboro chairman to FGR's £25K offer for player on transfer list but who had failed to make an impression at that club.
Response by magazine editor really put him down saying FGR's offer was realistic.
Probably end of story even if PB chairman drops his high valuation for admittedly a prolific goalscorer in non-league.

Maybe chuck in a couple of pies and a hummus t-shirt to save face for him? He can say he accepted an improved offer.

I’m glad we are looking for a proper Doidge replacement still. With Matty as another option I think our attack would look strong.

Then we just have to find a creative midfielder imo.

MacAnthony is a chancer and always wanting a inflated fee for his players.

I'm probably in a minority, but i think midfield priority in the absence of gunning, collins. digby (and gut feel is unfortunately James ) is an uncreative /holding midfielder who can break up play and protect the defence.

Rock on Dale. Keep calm and carry on.

For what it's worth the social network tonight has given a thumbs up for the kit. Apart from the Swindon season ticket holder.... Lost for words.

The squad is taking shape and all to play for.

Old style blustering Chair against the new.

Dale and his representatives will stay silent whilst any deal is negotiated (or not) and I suspect Peterboro's has done his club's and player's prospects no good at all. I have to say that I like the way we have been conducting our player acquisition business over the last year or so - our head of recruitment seems focussed and at one with Coops & Dale. Carry on as you are ....

If we are looking to the east for players/strikers-then Mikael Madron-released by Colchester would be a superb capture imo .
Now he is well worth £50K

would bring a bit of physical prowess but mobile .

A bit of the MC/SL golden touch could make him into a £500K striker .

young enough if work his way up the leagues-another doidge

I agree. Madron would be a great addition. I suppose he is leaving for a EFL 1 team though. Surprised Colchester aren’t holding on to him.

If we don’t get another striker MC will be putting a lot on McC’s shoulders. Maybe that is well worth placed faith. We will find out pretty quickly.

Whoever plays up front will need service so I hope we are also building a creative be midfield. Tough to do that.

Mandron is on trial at Gillingham and has a number of league 1 sides interested in him. Won't come here.

We currently have 5 forwards, not sure we need another one tbh.

McC a bit different-but otherwise-and admittedly, i have not seen them all -are the strikers all a bit similar in style ?

that given-i think i would only class McC , Collins and probably Allen as bona fide strikers .-and agree -whether its 5 or 3 -thats plenty-if they are good enough .

Does that massive IF word come into play though ?

Never rated Mandron. His scoring record at Colchester was woeful. Seems to me he thinks he's better than he actually is. Leave well alone, far better strikers available.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
